Appliances

Things just are not made any more like they used to be. I bought a new washer last May. One year and one month latter the stupid thing was not working. It was making the worst sound ever. Think nails on chalk board plus 100 times worse. Rich was able to fix it some what but all of the sound was not gone. I remember when I bought my washer I paid the $ 50.00 for the extended protection plan as I had so many problems with my last washer and the repair man told me they make everything to last no more then 3-4 years now. Nice huh. So I called the protection plan and they came out on Friday. The guy told Autumn ( I was working so I was unable to talk to him even though I was home) that we put to big of loads in and that the left panel was installed upside down. He ran it and it sounded fine so off he went. Umm yeah he ran it without any clothes in it just water. So when I got off work I started a load I was way behind on laundry plus Hope had a tummy bug and really needed clothes to be washed. It sounded worse then when we started. Not happy. Called them and of course it was 4 pm on Friday are they going to get anyone out nope. Rich fixed it again for me but the guy made it worse so he was only able to do so much, I did a few loads we were desperate here, then another guy came out Mon afternoon. Got it fixed. Turns out something bent and a bolt was scraping against the drum, he pounded the bolt back out and presto all was great. So glad I had the protection plan. Most times I will not get it as I feel like it is a waste but I am rethinking that as things are not made like they used to be. The day of having an appliance for 20 plus years is over.

The dryer I just purchased hasn't been great either. It makes me mad that the workmanship is so bad now days. Don't they have any pride in their products anymore?? Nope!! I'm glad you had the protection plan too. I need to start buying them with large purchase too... very sad.

I've heard that, but mostly about kitchen appliances. Someone told me that the average kitchen gets a remodel every 10 years, so they only make the fridge's and such to last 10 years now. I think that it is such a waste! The poor landfills.

So true. First it was our ovem, then our washer, then the microwave and then the dryer. I long for the good old days!
