Kade

My nephew Kade has been trying to decide if he should go on a mission or not. He has a 2 year full ride basketball scholarship to a school in Oregon. He is an amazing basketball player. He went for one year and played. He really was confused about his mission but decided to go. We are very proud of him (no matter what his decision was we are proud). He just got his mission call to serve the Asuncion Paraguay mission! He will finish out this year of school and then come home for the summer and leave mid August. Congratulations Kade, we love you!

Spring Break

The kids are on spring break this week. We wake up to about 3 inches of snow. YUCK. I am so over winter it isn't even funny. This may turn out to be a very long week.

STOP

This is what I want to tell my kids, STOP STOP STOP.... stop growing, stop getting older, just STOP. It just seems like time is spinning out of control. School will be over in 2 months, then Autumn will be a Junior, Tymber 7th grade and Hope a 1st grader. With my own school taking up so much time I feel like they are getting away from me. I was in tears the other day thinking of Autumn going to college in a few years. We won't even talk about Hope, okay yes we will, last week she learned to ride her bike without training wheels, Saturday I caught her reading a book, sounding out words and reading, what? when did that happen? what is going to happen when she doesn't want her mommy to read to her anymore? She is so proud of herself. We went to the library to get her some easy read books. Today she showed me she can do front flips on the trampoline. What? When did that happen? Seems like yesterday she couldn't get on the trampoline without someone helping her.. Then there is Tater Bug, besides the fact she is maturing quickly, and emotional, haha, she is just a blast. What a fun spirit she is, she loves to argue, if I say black I can gurantee she will say white, the teen years with her will be... interesting.

Charter School

My sweet Tymber is really struggling in school. A LOT. Of course as a parent you never want to see your child struggle, let alone admit it. School has always been hard for her, she is more of a social butterfly, the child that wants to talk or know what the neighbor is doing, versus worrying about what she should be doing to stay on task. When she does well, she does really well. A's and B's but when she doesn't get it, or connect with the teacher it is all downhill from there. 20 missing assignments is a bit much, she is doing better this quarter but still missing assignments and still struggling. I have done anything and everything I can think of, organizing, nagging, yelling, pleading, begging, grounding, and yes my mom has even bribed her. I know, I know, but I am lost. She does the work, I see her do the work does she turn it in... nope, or just doesn't bother bringing it home. We have even done after school homework help. I see the tears and the frustration in her eyes and it kills me. Worse it makes her feel like a failure, I NEVER want my child to feel like she is a failure or disappointment. Autumn and Ryan even try to help her sometimes. She is one smart stinker and oh so creative and fun. I don't expect all A's and B's but I do expect her to do her best, turn in assignments and so forth.
With stupid Tom Luna and his plan to destroy public schooling I am absolutely sick. She will never, ever make it in a class of 50 students. EVER, she gets distracted with 30-32 students. I see homeschooling in her future. But for next year I am seriously thinking of a charter school. There is a science and technology one that opened up last year, I spoke with the principal today and they have an opening for her. I know charter schools get a bad rap but at this point the student to teacher ratio is 15-1 and it is a lot of hands on teaching. One thing about Tater is she loves working hands on, I think school bores her and listening to a teacher drone on and on
(SORRY MRS B. you know I LOVE YOU to death, but face it there are not many Mrs. B's out there, especially in Jr. High), she loses interest.
The final decision has not been made yet and I still have to tour the school in April but my heart and gut are telling me this will be right for her, and usually a mamas instincts are right.

bye-bye training wheels

The weather was pretty decent today for a change so Tymber decided to teach Hope to ride her bike without training wheels. I think Hope's little bike got ran over so she didn't have one, but Rich found a bike in a dumpster last year and with a little work it was good to go, a boys bike but we don't care. I am not sure if I am happy she learned or sad because she is growing up too fast. I guess she took to it pretty fast and in about 5 minutes had it. She still is learning to start by herself, but my guess is in the next day or so it will be a done deal.

Addicted...

There are a few things I am addicted to, chocolate, my blanket, my pillow, Vampire Diaries..... but my latest addiction is

and her love story on how her and her husband met

I have been spending way too many hours reading her story, her families, story and holy cow her cute basset hound Charlie....

I hope to be caught up soon, staying awake until 3 a.m. is pretty insane and I have way to much to get done instead of reading this blog, I.JUST.CANT.HELP.IT.
