Corn Maze

For mutual tonight we took the YM/YW to the Shelley corn maze. There were 42 of us total with adults and youth. It was a lot of fun. We went at night and took off. We of course got lost. There are 4 different mazes you can choose from. They have different check points throughout that you can check off and receiver coupons from local businesses. There is also a map that they give you to follow. What a blast.

Baptism

Thursday our ward took the yw/ym to the temple to do baptisms. I never went as a youth and have not been to the baptismal font as an adult. I was pretty excited to go. We took a bus down (we have a lot of youth) and ate dinner at the temple. Then we went and changed. They split the kids up half did confirmations and half did baptisms and then they switched.I requested to hand the towels to them as they got out because I had never been and wanted to watch. Tymber was the first to get baptised. Each youth did 10 names for both. Autumn baptised a Princess of Holstein. She was pretty excited, I think she dated back late 1700's from Hungary or somewhere. When we were done the Bishop informed us we did 250 names. He told everyone that was enough to start a whole ward. How cool was that!
Rich had planed on going to baptise seems how he didn't baptise either girl. As luck would have it that is the day he had his shot. He is doing pretty good. His leg is almost pain free but where he got the shot is very sore. He said this doctor was so much better. Hopefully it will help him.

I am really enjoying the YW group. Tuesday we are taking them to the corn maze for our activity! Fun Fun. I wanted to go anyways when I told Rich we were going he said no fair he wants to come also.

Another shot

We took Rich back to the Doctor today, I am pretty sure his shot from July wore off. I was really hoping we would go longer with the amount of money each shot costs. The truth is there is no guarantee how long it will last, each person is different. Some people have to have 2 or 3 shots to get the pain gone. His pain never went away 100% but was manageable. He jumped out of the back of his truck last week and re-injured his back. I hope it is not torn again. We are going to go in Thursday morning for another shot, another $1,000.00 but oh well. It is better then the alternative of not being able to work at all. We also got him some anti-inflammatory pills. I will be curious if these work, he has had a bad reaction to some in the past, he can take celebrex but it is over $100.00 a month for it. We are also going to get him into a pain management clinic in Blackfoot. The bad news is we can't get him in until December 1st. I have heard some really good things about this clinic. I wanted to get him in earlier and forgo the shot but nothing was available so we need the shot so he can manage until then. Even if this shot does him wonders, that I doubt, but we agreed he will still go in December even if he feels great. This is something we need to deal with in the long term and try to avoid back surgery.

Night Away

Rich and I snuck away last night for some alone time. My parents kept the girls and my very great friend Monique hooked us up at the Red Lion in Idaho Falls, she works there and was able to get us an amazing room for a great price. It was a delux king sized room with a view overlooking the river. Beautiful. It also has a balcony we could walk out on. It was pretty cold though to be out for long. We also had a gift certificate for Chilies and went to dinner. Yummy food. Although our time was brief and I wish it would have lasted longer it was nice to have the alone time with him. We needed it, it is important to remember sometimes we are more then mom and dad.
His shot is wore off in his back. We were hopeful it would last longer and help more then it did. It really did not have the affect we wanted it to. I think we are going to try to get him into a pain specialist here in Blackfoot and see if we can have a little better luck trying some different methods.

Homecoming

Just because I love this picture
Super Geek
Bronco Pride

This past week was Blackfoot's Homecoming. One day was Disney Character day, another super hero, another disco, Friday was school pride, and Monday crazy hair day. Autumn dressed up on Disney day, she wore my Mickey Mouse pajama bottoms to school, this is against the dress code but nothing was said due to the week. Wed. her and Katie dressed up as their favorite super hero.... Super Geek. I loved that they made up their own hero's. They took old shirts and wrote SG on the front, taped their glasses , put a pen in their pockets, wore their hair in funny styles, wore their pants rolled uneven and a cape. She said they walked into Seminary saying "Never fear the Super Geeks are here". Monday she wore her hair crazy, I didn't think it was that crazy. Friday of course a green shirt and I think she had her Blackfoot hoodie on.
She is Secretary of the German club. The girl doesn't even take or speak German but she was at a meeting with Ryan last year and they needed another officer so she volunteered. Silly girl. They had to select someone for Homecoming Queen and then wanted to make a float or something for the Parade on Friday. They used my cousin George's big black truck and decorated it. George was a good sport about letting them borrow it, but when he was in school he was on the football team, so Bronco Pride. I guess they had a picture of a Bee ( Bonneville Bees, the school I graduated from) on the front of the truck squashed, then they had German Club on the back and Broncos on the sides made from tablecloths or something. Ryan drove the truck and all the kids piled in the back with fly swatters. This girl in the club made them each really cool shirts to wear and the girls put upside down horseshoes on their faces with paint. I was pretty disappointed Autumn did not tell me what time the parade was starting, they got out 2 hours early. I called her and she told me it was starting right then. It was only a few blocks so I couldn't get there in time. I was sad we missed it. After the parade they washed Georges truck, put fuel in it and took it back. Then Ry and Autumn came back here, he wasn't looking so good, he got braces the day before on the bottom and his mouth was killing him, plus he had a super bad migraine. I fed them and Autumn left to go to the game with Katie and some friends. Poor Ryan went downstairs in her room and slept about three hours. I felt bad for him, I know he wanted to go to the game but was sick. Broncos won the game. Yeah!
Homecoming was the next night but not being 16 Autumn didn't get to go. I really don't think she cared anyways. None of her close friends are 16 (except Ryan) so no one was going to the dance. I am glad she is having fun in school. I hated high school so bad and only wanted out. She went to the powder puff game on Wednesday and informed me next year she is playing powder puff!
