House Changes

Looks like we are going to be doing some work on our house. I'm excited but not excited to be torn up. Nothing major going on but before Christmas my pipes froze in my kitchen. When they unthawed my washer trap that releases the water was still froze. We did not know this and Rich was doing some laundry while I was working one Sat. morning. Tymber came flying upstairs to tell us water was leaking in the basement. Good thing Rich was home and he acts quickly. Basically we had a mess and it ruined my kitchen hardwood floor. Guess this is why you pay insurance premiums. We talked about it and have both been unhappy with the hardwood floor for quite a while so we are going to pull it up and put down tile. We got a bid from a hardwood floor guy as this is what the adjuster needed us to go off from, and also from the sheetrocker as there is some minor damage downstairs. It is nothing Rich can't fix himself. My handy man ;o) and really the basement isnt noticable unless you are looking. So it will be done just not right this minute as we will need to re tape and texture in a few places. But we are going to rip up the hardwood floor and put tile down. Rich's nephew Brian was able to get us a good price on the tile I wanted so I am excited. He will also rip up the base board in the living room and kitchen and put bigger base down. Plus Zoey got us paint for Christmas so we are going to paint the upstairs. Not a lot of remodel but it will take a while to get it done. Looking froward to the fresh look this will bring my home. We will be puting our temlpe pictures on the wall going down the stairs where my wreath is now. Lorie bought us the canvas pictures they are beutiful and as our Christmas gift to ourselves we had them matted and framed. Will be doing picts of it as we progress along.

Wow! I had no idea you had this disaster happen. What are you going to do to prevent the pipes from freezing? Do you have to put that heat tape on them? Lovely weather in Blackfoot.

I'm excited that you get to have hardwood in your kitchen. Too bad you can't do a whole kitchen remodel though.

You are lucky to have a handyman for a husband... and nice that you will get insurance money to cover the costs.
