Engagement

For weeks and weeks we have been waiting for Jaron to ask Autumn to marry him. They have actually been talking about it about 3 weeks into their relationship. We kept teasing him that he needed to get a ring on it with her up to college (really she didn't even have any interest to date anyone else). He loves her so so much and wanted everything to be perfect. They went ring shopping and she picked out a few and he mad a final decision.

Autumn had always said when she gets engaged she expects the guy to ask permission first and she told him that. He also told us he had too much respect for us not to ask. He planned the perfect day for her. What a memory it will all be.

She was getting a little pissed because weeks were going by with no ring. He had surgery on his kidney stones the week before and was out of work for a week. He invited Rich and I to dinner on Wed Oct 23. He was so nervous it was sweet. Rich teased him and told him he could marry her if he would give up the Dallas cowboys for the Steelers. it was so funny. Jaron is a huge Cowboys fan, Rich is a huge Steelers fan and hates the cowboys.

He had been planning this for weeks and we were trying to keep it secret from Autumn. He was texting me almost non stop. She called when we were at dinner he said I'm at dinner with the parents. She immediately asked my parents. Stinker. He had to lie and say no his parents. He felt horrible. All week she kept bugging him because he told her Saturday to keep the whole day free. She was getting nosier and nosier and he was exasperated. She came home Fri. night and was eating the pasta I brought home for dinner. I had to tell her it was a new recipe and she kept telling me it would be better with broccoli and less  garlic. It was pretty funny. I knew Jaron might be hurting because of his surgery and he had so much planned I snuck an overnight bag in his truck because they were going to Utah and if they had to stay at his brothers they could.

The big day arrived and he picked her up at 7:30 am. She had a pretty good idea but I kept throwing her off by telling her he better not propose because he hadn't asked permission ( I was enjoying it too much).

They drove to Bountiful and his sister in law told him to go to this park.she had set up chairs and was hiding with her camera. Jaron wrote Autumn a song, played the guitar and then got down on one knee and proposed. Seriously how romantic is he. His sister in law captured some amazing pictures. after she took some other pictures of them.

They went to Salt Lake and spent the day at Hogle Zoo. She had never been and loves giraffes so he wanted to take her. Then they went to Temple Square for a while and back to his brothers for dinner and got home about 10 that night.

We really like Jaron a lot. He fits well into our family. Rich said it only took 19 years but he finally has a son. That is a huge compliment coming from him. He treats Autumn so well and they are so crazy in love it is impossible not to be happy for them. I always thought it would be harder seeing her fall in love and prepare to get married but it has been relatively painless because he cares so much for her.
