I have been taking an on line workshop with University of Phoenix trying to get ready to start school. The 3 day workshop I am taking now is goal setting and time management. I'm really enjoying it and it has some good ideas on time management, setting short and long term goals and de-stressing... this is the one I will need the most. LOL
We had to set a long term goal for ourselves using a specific format. I set my goal and decided to also post it here.
My long term goal is to start college July 12 and to complete my associates degree in health care administration in three years. I am going to accomplish this by taking on line classes at University of Phoenix. The progress I have made so far with this goal is I have enrolled in college. I have completed the financial information I need to start school. I am also taking several workshops available from the school before my start date to better prepare me for college. I fell like this is a realistic and attainable goal. It will be a challenge to balance my family, work and school but it can be done.I should be able to complete this goal by the late spring or early summer three years from now in 2013.
My action plan for going to college is first a personal goal. I am doing this for myself first. To follow through with something I have always wanted to do but have not had the courage to do until now. IT also is going to help my family out financially when I am able to obtain a better paying job for the future. The benefits I expect to receive from this goal is finding a satisfying career in something that I will enjoy doing. Just not in working a job right now that is just a job and not a career. I think my main barrier in this is going to be time. I am going to have to learn to prioritize my time very wisely. I need to take the time to study and complete my assignments and to obtain good grades while going to school. I will need to make sure my family is also well taken care of and getting the support and family time in that they deserve and need as a mother and a wife. I can do this by studying when they are doing their own homework. I will work my regular job in the morning while they are in school, then have a little time to study before they get home. We will then have family time and to accomplish the things that need to be done in every day life as well. Once they are in bed i will be able to study some more.
I think for small milestones every nine weeks that I complete a course I will come up with some sort of small celebration. It may be something fun for the family to do, or may be a special date just for my husband and I. It may even be a small gift for myself for a job well done. I think by starting this new path I may find "me". I have been mom and wife for so long and wouldn't trade it for anything but it might be fun to rediscover myself along the way and to find a confidence I have lost.

Good for you! Writing down your goal is awesome. Make sure that you post it. I would also think about putting time for church in there. I know when I make time for church, I always have time for the other things that need to get done.
