Hunger Games

Because I am either stupid or crazy, or both, I took Autumn and Tymber to the midnight premier of the Hunger Games. I had absolutely no plans what-so-ever to go to the midnight show. In fact I was secretly congratulating myself when I told the girls' it was completely sold out and we would take them during spring break, after my parents were back from Arizona to watch Hope. Then Autumn's friend posted she had three extra tickets and the girls begged me to take them. I didn't have to work Friday so much to my dismay I said yes. I am such a pushover mom.

We got there and holy long line batman. It was so long, I couldn't believe it. I dropped the girls off and gave Autumn two tickets, then went and parked. Walked back (quite a ways) to them only to remember I left my ticket in the car (duh) went back got my ticket came back to find out Autumn had somehow lost Tymbers ticket.. Are you freaking kidding me? Oh my gosh I was so mad, we looked and of course couldn't find it. Donna, who I got tickets from, told me she thought they would let me in with the receipt. That was in my purse, back at the car, went back again got the receipt and figured I would ask even though I was doubtful. At this point I was ready to bag it, let the girls go with Donna and let her bring them home. About then the manager came out because some people were dressed up in costumes and had fake swords and a fake bow and arrow. Of course he wasn't going to let them in the show because they are still considered weapons. I was able to explain to him what happened show him the receipt and other two tickets and he said no problem, yippee! When we got to the door the kid taking tickets didn't even bother looking at them at all, he just ripped them and handed them back. Geesh anybody could have had any ticket to any type of show and gotten in.

I was really worried because I hate Twilight so bad and was afraid this would be another disappointment. We ended up in the second to front row because we were so late getting there. We checked all 10 theaters and front rows were all that was left. That really sucked super bad. There is a lot of action so much of it was a total blur. Plus it was midnight so tired anyways.

Honestly I was pleasantly surprised. The girl who plays Katniss, Jennifer Lawrence, did a really good job. I thought they cast everyone well. The movie stuck to the story super well. A few alterations but that is to be expected. It probably wasn't as in depth as it could have been because they have to leave so much out. I wonder if people who haven't read the book would have a hard time following the movie.

Overall I was pleased. I actually think we will go again because Rich wants to see it and I would rather see it further back. I would enjoy it more. Driving home at 3 A.M. I told Autumn I wouldn't do another midnight show, she agreed. Tymber doesn't have school on Fridays and Autumn only missed first hour. I got Hope off to school and went back to bed, but I am still pretty beat today.

Did we tell you that Katniss was Mistique in the new X-men movie? We watched it 2 weekends ago and I told Brady .... hey that is going to be Katniss. We were really excited after that. AND Gale is Thor's brother in real life. It was a GREAT cast!

Anyway ... I vowed never to go to another midnight show after Twilight - it did me in and I was sooo tired. I wondered if that is why I hated it sooo much, but I kept watching it and never did like it - or any of the shows.

It's a huge relieve to like The Hunger Games. I even watched Abduction with Taylor Lautner to see if I miss-judged his acting - I didn't - he's a bad actor. Robert Pattison was OK in Water for Elephants but I didn't love him. I see Kristen Stewart is in the Snow White and The Huntsman movie - darn - I can't even think about watching her terrible acting in that.

Sorry for the novel. Miss you guys. Oh, and man -- what a terrible deal with the tickets - LOL!
