Last Thursday Autumn had an ultrasound done on her gallbladder, she was convinced this is what has been wrong with her. It turned out okay so Monday they sent us for an imaging test. The test was more extensive than I thought. I should have asked questions. I thought they would just take some images, kind of like a MRI. Nope they gave her an I.V. and injected her with radiation (a small dose) then put her under an imaging machine and she had to hold completely still. We were in a semi truck that was brought up to the clinic from Idaho Falls and equipped with this machinery, it was pretty wild. They had a television in the ceiling and she watched Finding Nemo. We were also able to watch on a screen millions of molecules and her gallbladder getting larger in the image. Pretty soon they injected her with a cocktail they called a cheeseburger, really it was a drug that makes her gallbladder contract and act like it is processing. The guy said it could be very painful and he had seen grown men cry. She did pretty well and her pain level was about a 4. The test took about 2 hours and we received the results Thursday afternoon from the nurse. All is normal.
Autumn is frustrated, I am frustrated. No answers and I have not had a chance to talk to the Dr. directly. She told me over the answering machine there are a few viruses that could be causing this, one of them mono. But we told her right off the bat Autumn had mono this spring and asked if this could still be an issue. So now we wait for a while and see how she feels in another week.... Sigh.
