Tymber started her Sophomore year and Hope started fourth grade. It was super hard for me to send the girls to school because everything in our lives is upside down right now. Rich and I made the extremely difficult decision to send the girls to stay at Zoeys so we could get them established in Pocatello for when our house sells. Tymber does not do well in school and I knew starting her in Blackfoot and then moving her to Pocatello mid year would be even harder on Tym. I wasn't overly concerned with Hope because grade school is so different then high school and making new friends. About a week before school started I registered the girls and Tym and I went and spent a while at the high school. I wanted her to be comfortable with her locker and where all her classes were.
Not only were we facing a new school but the day before it started Rich's back surgery. To say I was a basket case is an understatement. I'm a total control freak and have always taken my kids to school on the first day. I really wasn't comfortable just sending them off on their own, especially because I had no clue who Hopes teacher was. The morning school started Autumn was my saving grace and came to get the girls at 7 am and drive them to Pocatello. She took Hope in and introduced herself and explained to the teacher who she was and the situation of the girls living at Zoeys during the week and a little about Rich's surgery. I knew I could trust Autumn to do what needed to be done. I was also worried because Hope has always caught the bus right in front of my house. This wasn't the case now she has to walk up the hill and about 4 streets down. I called the school and the transportation department because I was super worried she wouldn't know how to get off the bus at the correct stop (control freak). Hope had a GREAT first day she absolutely LOVES her teacher. Last year her teacher yelled a lot and so Hope did not like her that much. This year so far Hope is crazy about her. She is quickly making friends in and out of school and doing well with the adjustments.
Tymber was pretty scared when she got dropped off and started having anxiety. Her Fathers Blessing reminded her once again to choose her friends wisely. As soon as she started with feeling anxious she headed to the Seminary building. There was still about 20 min before school started. I guess she almost got ran over in the cross walk and a boy seen it so he immediately began talking to her. They have become fast friends. He even took her home for lunch on the first day and immediately invited her to mutual that night as well. She texted me several times throughout the day and told me she loves the school. She told me she really feels comfortable there and likes almost all of her teachers.I was really feeling the Lords tender mercies and feeling so much better after the first few days.
It still breaks my heart to send them to Zoeys house during the week. It feels wrong that my kids are not living with us and I absolutely hate it but at the same time I feel blessed they can be safe at their Grandmas house and that they are adjusting to the new schools so far with no issues. Tymber seems happier then I have seen her in a long time.
I love the back of her shirt
